CEO leaves a legacy of her own
Annette Burgess has been CEO of Geyser Foundation since 2010.
Geyser Foundation executive officer Annette Burgess is leaving the organisation in fine shape, with more than $9 million raised during her time there.
Chairwoman Helene Phillips said Annette’s story was Geyser’s story.
“Her impact on the foundation has been nothing short of remarkable. First appointed in 2010, her vision and unwavering commitment to our work has significantly shaped our success and strengthened our bonds within the communities we serve in the Rotorua District, in the Taupō community and indeed, throughout the central volcanic region.
She said thanks to her hard work and guidance, they had reached new heights in their fundraising efforts and expanded reach into local communities, making a difference to the lives of more people in need.
“Annette’s passion, warmth and generosity, as well as her wonderful sense of humour have been inspirational.
She said under her leadership, funds received so far total $9.4 million, with more than $17 million anticipated in wills, and more than $3 million given to local causes since Geyser first launched to the public in 2008.
“Annette will always be an important part of the Geyser family and while we will miss her enormous energy, dedication and leadership, we wish her well for her retirement.”
Burgess said it had been an honour and a privilege to serve the local community.
“To meet and work alongside so many generous local people passionate about our communities has been an absolute pleasure.
“I am always blown away by the joy that comes with legacy giving, which is a very personal and powerful gift; because it’s invested in perpetuity and the capital remains intact, so the gift empowers our local communities forever.
“This is something we can all do.”
