Winch appeal hauls in the cash

Meet the Greenlea crew on May 11.

The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter team is less than $25,000 away from its ambitious $616,071 fundraising goal, for a new winch.

The public will be able to see the new winch in action at the upcoming Greenlea Rescue Helicopter Open Day on May 11.

Greenlea Premier Meats managing director Tony Egan said with winch missions more than doubling in the past four years, they knew it was a cause that needed their support.

The company has been matching public donations dollar for dollar.

Philips Search and Rescue Trust (PSRT) general manager Vanessa Richmond said they had not quite reached the finish line but they were sending a massive thank you to the community of supporters that have rallied behind the cause.

The Open Day will be held at the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter hangar at 32 Anzac Memorial Drive on May 11, 11am – 2pm.

It’s a family-friendly day where people can meet the rescue crew, witness live demos, and learn how emergency services work together.
