It’s Poppy Day this Friday, April 11
John Carter and David Lehndorf man the RSA stand at the Taupō Home & Garden Show.
It’s Poppy Day this Friday, April 11 and people will be able to make a donation and wear one on their lapel ahead of Anzac Day on April 25.
Poppies will be available from volunteers on the streets around towns in the district and from lots of shops.
Donations can also be made by contacting admin@tauporsa.co.nz.
All proceeds from Poppy Day is earmarked for the welfare of veterans, with various initiatives in place to help out.
There will be two services on Anzac Day this year – a dawn service and a Civic Service later in the morning.
There will also be the usual RSA breakfast with generous donations this year from M21 Meats, Bidfoods and Woolworths.
For those interested in joining the RSA, they now meet at the Taupō Bowling Club for a social night every Thursday.
